210x49mm carbon damascus gyuto from Australian maker Brook Turner.
This knife is in used condition coming from my personal knives and has seen some rough treatment in its travels. It suffered some excess moisture at some point which left it with a lot of small pockmarks over the steel. Honestly, I have to say I kind of like it, especially polished out. It’s purely cosmetic, and it gives it a bit of a war-torn, weathered look, that I think is a nice counterpoint to the super sleek and elegant (and very comfortable) handle. Speaking of handles, I can’t for the life of me remember or find the woods on the handle. I think maybe the main piece is ironwood, but not at all sure on the ferrule. It also lost a millimeter or two off the tip, but was fixed and is unnoticeable. It really wasn’t used very much at all, and has been fully sharpened only once, right now.
Anyway, it’s a great user knife from one of my favorite makers, and I know it will make someone very happy.
